Dell Deals are Back

Dell is back with $200 off deals on Inspirons with $999. So take your pick. Dell™ Home: $799 Notebook with 15.4 inch Display or $599 Desktop

Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 BG Mini PCI used with Intel Centrino

This may not be one of the fastest wireless card, but it does deliver functionality expected.  In fact, it works with most type of encryption methodologies being used in corporate world of today (such as LEAP, PEAP etc) and can work with CISCO Wireless routers being used in your offices can surely make task of IT Teams easy. Once you are out of office, you should be able to still use the same adapter to make connections to HotSpots as well as your home networks.

I have used PCMCIA cards from BELKIN as well as CISCO, but have found Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 BG Mini PCI as most effective.

Issues with Dell Latitude D610

The chasis of this laptop (and probably entire new Latitude series) is not so sturdy. I have been using it only for six months, but the portion of the top of laptop next to keyboard that keeps rubbing with palm of my hand has lost its color (and obviously my palms have become more smooth )!!!! Compared with C610, which is still running good, this one looks not so good.

Dell Latitude D610

I have been using this one (from my office, obviously) for about six months now. It has a decent configuration.

  • Intel Centrino 1.7 Ghz CPU
  • Intel Wireless Pro 2200 BG
  • 512 MB RAM
  • DVD+RW Drive

For some reason, Battery of this laptop was not affected. I am still running Windows 2000 Professional on this laptop.

More about my Dell C610

Well, Here is some more information about my Dell C610. I took it off the power supply 150 minutes ago and used it to surf internet, and run some educational games (flash). Not very heavy work, but it still is running (The battery is 2 year old now). I can not think about doing that with my Dell Inspiron 6000 yet. Which is why I still love Dell C610 so much. (This post was written using Dell C610).

Dell Latitude C610

Well, Yes, everyone knows that Dell latitude C610 is an Intel PIII based old Laptop. Why are we reviewing it now? Well that is the point. In spite of being an old laptop, it is a rugged piece of hardware. I have been using one since two years and I havne't had much problems with it. It still does what it was doing best two years ago, basic desktop publishing and providing required computing on the move. It still has an excellent battery life as well as speed. Only thing that I have had problem with was, that i lost the spring at the back of the laptop that held the battery and battery has became loose. But it still workes in taped form, also has an excellent microphone as well as a set of built-in speakers, which most new laptops lack (Dell seams to be removing microphones from laptop to make them cheaper).
